Virtual Makeover: Unwanted freckles, spot & marks

This tutorial will teach you how you can easily remove unwanted freckles, spot or marks. For this tutorial, I am using the below picture of Keira Knightley that I found while searching on Google. Click on the below picture
for the large size the same as the one I used for this tutorial

Step 1: Click on the current layer where the picture is then right click and select DUPLICATE LAYER.

It is always good to work with duplicate layer that way you have the original copy to compare with if needed. Actually, I would definately advise doing so that way you see the perfection better and if any corrections are needed, you can always go back to original layer and copy elements of the body or face. Not only when doing photo retouching but for any kind of photoshoping job, it helps greatly.

Step 2: Right click on the “Spot Healing Brush” tool and select the “Healing Brush Tool” which would be the second tool listed there.

Step 3: Here is the most easiest of the step where most people will tend to make mistakes. You want to make sure that your Healing Brush size is slightly bigger than the actual spot that you are removing. As you can see on the below picture my circle (Healing Brush) is slightly bigger than the spot right above it that I’ll remove.

To adjust the brush size, simply right click anywhere on the picture and you will land with the brush size tool.

For my example, I started with brush size 15 px and spacing at 25%. Normally, you would leave the brush spacing at around that size that way its well spaced for this task.

Step 4: Now we are ready to sample the skin where there are no marks, acne or freckles. Move your mouse to a similar spot, I would suggest very close to the unwanted spot that has exactly the same skin tone. Press the ALT (in windows system) key down and you will notice that your mouse cursor has changed. Now click on a clean spot right next to the unwanted spot that has similar color tone.

Now let go off the ALT key and you are ready to heal the skin. With your mouse, simply click over the spot you want to remove and magically they will disappear. For larger spot, adjust your brush size slightly larger than of the unwanted spot.
Here, I removed the spot on the nose which you can see on the picture at Step 3.

For the other part of the face, here is another closeup:

This tutorial will teach you how you can easily apply eyeshadow to anyone in few simple steps.

Virtual Makeover: Eyeshadow!

This tutorial will teach you how you can easily apply eyeshadow to anyone in few simple steps. Go ahead, get ready.. fireup Photoshop and open the picture you want to apply blush to. For this tutorial, you can use the below picture.

Step 1: First thing you want to do is create a new empty layer from the layers menu.

Step 2: Now, from the Tools menu, change the foreground color to a color you would like to apply as the eyeshadow. For this tutorial, I have selected the color #2790aa. Keep in mind
that this new color will smoothly blend in with the skin therefore the color you select will be creating an unique blend with texture so there will be variation of shade which also depends on the actual skin tone.
Through some experiment with different shade of colors, you will achieve to your desired color of eyeshadow.

Step 3: Select the brush tool from the Tools menu.

Step 4: Right click over your image and a popup dialogue will appear that look like this:

From this dialogue menu, scroll half way through and select a brush size from the Soft Mechanical portion (bottom half of the list). I have selected the size 35 pixel
so I can easily go over the eyeshadow area once and create the eyeshadow. Now,
go ahead and carefully draw in the eyeshadow as if drawing them in a real face, if you are using the image above, then I suggest a simple one click and dragging the brush from left to right will do the job well.
If your picture is somewhat large or very high resolution image, consider using higher brush size and repeating the procedure more than once, meaning going left to right several times to create a smoother eyeshadow.
Its okay if it gets a bit messy! We’ll clean all that excess amount later. Here is how mine looks like:

Step 5: Let’s add some texture to our eyeshadow:

Go to FILTER -> BLUR -> MOTION BLUR, on the popup menu, set the Angle to -90, distance to 20pixels (or more if you have high resolution image.. make sure to look at the preview
otherwise you might create excessive amount of blurness. Now go back to FILTER -> BLUR -> BLUR (just once) to add a small amount blur you’ll barely notice it but it helps.

Let’s create the actual texture now using the Noise filter. Go to FILTER -> NOISE -> ADD NOISE.

Amount 4% (also try 2%) and set to Gaussian. Here is how mine looks like with blur and noise added.

Step 6: Now from your layers menu, change the blending mode to “Vivid Light” with 70% Opacity level. You can try other blending option but this works the best if you want to preserve the texture of the eyeshadow.

Here is how mine looks like with all step completed…

Step 7: If you have excess color that leaked outside of the area, then you can use the eraser tool
to erase the excess but make sure you use the Soft Mechanical with smaller pixel size
around 10px or more and carefully start from furthest and work your way to closer areas.

In this tutorial you will learn to how to use the Circular Pattern tool to create array of an element and then Extrude them all at once. This tutorial is designed to help you save time when same element is to be placed around an object or point.

In this tutorial you will learn to how to use the Circular Pattern tool to create array of an element and then Extrude them all at once. This tutorial is designed to help you save time when same element is to be placed around an object or point. I am using Autodesk Inventor 2009 version.

Lets open an empty document to work with, go to:
File -> New -> Default -> Standard.ipt

Standard.ipt is a blank parts file, what we are doing is creating a part that can be used later in an assembly.

Now, lets draw a circle in this document. Look on the left side, “2D Sketch Panel”, there you will find the “Center Point Circle”.

Click once on the center of the drawing area, this will be our center point of the circle, then move up until you see a circle big enough to work with and click again to finish the circle.
It should look like this:

Now press Esc key when so Inventor knows we are done using this tool.

Let’s turn this circle into a cylinder shape by using the Extrude tool, if you already know how to do this, you can skip this step.
Press on “Return” on the top toolbar, this will change the drawing mode from 2D to 3D.

From the top toolbar, click on the “Orbit” tool and rotate your circle just slightly enough about 45 degrees.

Now click on the “Extrude” tool from the “Part Features” on the left.

The Extrude menu will appear on your screen, simply click on the circle once and it will select the circle as the object to be extruded, then hit Enter. It should look somthing like this:

From the Extrude menu, change the distance to 0.5 in, by default it was set on 1 in. Below that, there are 3 Extrude option, this indicates which direction to Extrude,
we will select the middle option which will Extrude toward the back of our circle which is what we want that way it is easier to work with the axis later. Click OK to apply the changes and finish the Extrude option.

Now that we have a 3D cylinder, lets create the Array of circles using Circular Pattern. Right click over the circle’s face and it should bring out a menu, from there select the “New Sketch”.
This will take us back to the 2D sketch and basically we are defining a new sketch on the circle’s surface.

From how this looks, it may be a little hard to work with so lets bring the drawing to FRONT surface that way we can go ahead and draw again. It is a bit hard to read
sometimes but I am sure you’ll get used to it in no time, go ahead and click the FRONT label on the 3D orientation box which is located on the top right hand side.

Select the Center Point Circle tool like we did before and draw a small circle like the one below. Its on the upper portion of the drawing inside the big circle we had from before.

Lets go ahead and create a circular pattern (array) of this circle inside of the big circle, the idea is to draw this circle 8 times around but if we do it one by one,
we’ll have to figure out the exact distance for each one and spend way too much time, by using the Pattern tool, this can be done much faster. From the left menu, select the
Circular Patter tool.

Now click on the small circle we have just created, when you mouseover, it will change color, once clicked, press ENTER to lock this down so the Circular Patter knows this is our Geometry that we will array in pattern.

Now if you look at the Circular Patter tool, Geometry arrow is no longer selected but the next arrow is selected, now we will define the center of our circle, click on the center of the big circle.
Once the middle of the big circle is clicked, this defines our center point of array, the drawing will change to reflect 6 circles around it by default. You can change this number to 8,
and should immediately see 8 circles inside arrayed based on your original circle. Press OK when done.

Now you have 8 circles inside of the big cylinder circles. Right click anywhere on the sketch and select “Finish Sketch” or press the Esc key.

Now the left menu should be on the 3D mode as that’s where we were before. Select the Extrude tool. Then click inside of all 8 small circles we just made using the Pattern tool.

You’ll see that the distance is set to 0.5 in which is what we last used, change that to 0.25 and leave everything else as we want it to Extrude upward on top of the cylinder.
Then simply click OK and use the Orbit tool to change your 3D orientation, it should look somthing like this:

I used the gold material above on the first picture shown and then used the built in render function to crate a life like structure. I’ll leave that topic for another day. Hope you enjoyed the tutorial.

You can download the Inventor file used in this tutorial by right clicking HERE and ‘SAVE TARGET AS’, this is Inventor 2009 file.

This tutorial will teach you how you can easily apply blush to any face. Go ahead, get ready.. fireup Photoshop and open the picture you want to apply blush to. For this tutorial, you can use the below picture.

Step 1: First thing you want to do is create a new empty layer from the layers menu.

Step 2: Now, from the Tools menu, change the foreground color to a color you would like to apply as the blush. For this tutorial, I have selected the color #f0297e. Keep in mind
that this new color will smoothly blend in with the face therefore the color you select will be creating an unique blend so there will be variation of shade.
Through some experiment with different shade of colors, you will achieve to your desire shade.

Step 3: Select the brush tool from the Tools menu.

Step 4: Right click over your image and a popup dialogue will appear that look like this:

From this dialogue menu, scroll half way through and select a brush size from the Soft Mechanical portion (bottom half of the list). I have selected the size 60 pixel so I can cover the cheeks faster. Now,
go ahead and carefully paint only over the cheeks, if you are using the image above, then I suggest a simple one click will do the job well, if your picture is somewhat large or very high resolution image, consider using higher brush size and clicking over the cheeks
more than once to cover properly. Its okay if it gets a bit messy! We’ll clean all that excess amount later. Here is how mine looks like:

Step 5: Now from your layers menu, change the blending mode to “Darken”. It depends mostly on what color you choose during step 2 but mostly “Darken” works the best. If “Darken” does not work well, then you may
select another blending mode and play around with opacity until your desired level of contrast is gained. Now set the opacity level to 20%, if you are using the above picture and color, this setting works best and gives the natural look.

Once “Darken” with 20% opcacity, here is how it should look:

Step 6: If you do not like how it looks or if you have excess color that leaked outside of the cheeks, then you can use the eraser tool to erase the excess but make sure you use the Soft Mechanical with large pixel size
around 40px or more and carefully start from furthest and work your way to closer areas

This tutorial will teach you how you can easily change the eye color very simple way! For this tutorial, I’ve selected the below picture which you may save
and use for this tutorial. In case you are curious, its a picture of Indian celebrity Riya Sen.

Step 1: First thing you want to do is create a new empty layer from the layers menu.

Step 2: Now, from the Tools menu, change the foreground color to a somewhat strong bright color you would like to change the eyes to. For this tutorial, I have selected the color #017455. Keep in mind
that this new color will smoothly blend with your previous eye color creating an unique blend so there will be variation of shade. Through some experiment with different shade of colors, you will achieve
to your desire shade.

Step 3: Select the brush tool from the Tools menu.

Step 4: Right click over your image and a popup dialogue will appear that look like this:

From this dialogue menu, scroll half way through and select a brush size from the Soft Mechanical portion (bottom half of the list). I have selected the size 21 pixel so I can cover the eyes faster. Now,
go ahead and carefully paint only over the eye-balls. Its okay if it gets a bit messy! We’ll clean all that excess amount later. Here is how mine looks like:

Step 5: Now from your layers menu, change the blending mode to “Hue”. It depends mostly on what color you choose during step 2 but mostly “Hue” works the best. If “Hue” does not work well, then you may
select another blending mode and play around with opacity until your desired level of contrast is gained.

Once “Hue” is applied, here is how mine looks like:

Step 6: Using the eraser tool, carefully erase out excess color that leaked outside of the eye-balls.

Be careful around the edge of the eye-balls not to erase inside otherwise you will have some missing areas
and will look funny. Here is the final result:

This tutorial will teach you how you can easily change the lipstick color or apply lipstick on the lips in very simple way! For this tutorial, I’ve selected the below picture which you may save
and use for this tutorial. In case you are curious, they belong to the Indian celebrity Riya Sen.

Step 1: First thing you want to do is create a new empty layer from the layers menu.

Stpe 2: Now, from the Navigator menu, select the Brush tool.

Step 3: Now, right click anywhere in the picture and you will get this popup menu.

You’ll see many different brush size, the first half set of brushes are regular brushes which we will not use. The second half set of brushes are smooth edge like spray painting like brushes. For my image
I’ve selected Soft Mechanical 18 Pixel size.

Step 4: From the Tools menu, set the foreground color to the color of the lipstick that you would like to apply on the model. I selected a shade of red.

Step 5: Now you are ready to apply the lipstick, using the mouse tooltip, paint over the lips. Do not worry if it is not perfectly done. After all, you do not have to be a makeup artist
to create perfect lipstick… hence we have photoshop! Once you are done, it should look somthing like this:

Step 6: Now from the layers menu, change the blending mode for the layer. If you click on the drop down menu for the blending mode, you’ll see lots of option, I advise you
go through all of them and find the one that suits the best blending for your color. In my case, I found ‘Darken’ to give me exactly the shade I wanted.

Step 7: Set the opacity to about 50% that way when you are erasing the excess lipstick from the outside of lips are or even teeth, you can see half way trhough the layer so you know what
to keep and what to erase.

Step 8: Select eraser tool from the Tools menu.

Right click on somewhere in the picture and you should get a popup dialgoue that looks like the one below.

Scroll down half way through the list and find the Soft Mechanical brush (see step 3 for more details). I selected the Soft Mechanical 9 Pixel size brush tip.

Step 9: Now using your mouse tooltip, go ahead and erase carefuly the edge of the lips where excessive lipstick are applied. As the layer opacity is set to 50% (see step 7), you should be
able to see the real lips below visible slightly and that will give you the hint as to how your lipstick should look on this layer. Once you delete the areas around the lips and the teeth (if they are showing)..
then play around the Opacity of the layer and set your desire number (see step 7.) This completes this tutorial, here is how mine came out:

Quickly turn any model pictures into glamorous look in just a minute or less. This photoshop tutorial will teach you how...

This tutorial will teach you how you can quickly and effectively modify an image where too much makeup’s were applied making the skin look fake. Makeup always not the case,
the picture can be a magazine scan creating excessive noise on the picture. You can also do this to an old photographs that was scanned. Basically to any picture that has excessive amount of noise.
Using this quick dirty secret, you can make your models look glamour’s in no time! For this tutorial purpose, we will use this photograph of Indian celebrity, Riya Sen, that I found on the net. You can
save this picture and open with photoshop to follow through the tutorial.

Step 1: I’ll assume you already have selected your models picture, using the above picture or the picture you would like to enhance. Now, look over at your layers menu, right click over your image layer and select “Duplicate Layer”.
It should look something like this:

Step 2: Make sure your new duplicated layer is selected on the layers menu then from the top menu, go to FILTER -> NOISE -> REDUCE NOISE.

Step 3: You’ll get a popup dialogue box with many options and sample of your picture on the left. The menu on the right would look like the screen below. Strength is how powerful the noise reduction will be, I have set this to maximum.
In your case, it may not be necessary so make sure you slide it left and right until the preview looks like the kind of skin you want for your picture.
I set the ‘Preserve Details’ to 1% as at this point I do not care how much details are being shown, my only concern is that I want the skin to look really good and smooth. Set the other two option to zero as we do not need them.

Once the REDUCE NOISE filter is applied on the top duplicated layer, your picture would look something like this..

Notice that noise is removed from all part of the image including the lips, eyes and hair.. thus making the picture look as if it has been photoshoped.

Step 4: Remember, you have our original picture intact on the bottom of this layer. At this point our goal is to bring the original eyes, hair and lips back as if they
were vivid and not blurry photoshoped version. From the Navigator menu, select the Eraser tool.

Step 5: Now, right click anywhere in the picture and you will get this popup menu.

You’ll see many different brush size, the first half set of brushes are regular brushes which we will not use. The second half set of brushes are smooth edge like spray painting like brushes. For my image
I’ve selected Soft Mechanical 9 Pixel size. You can see it more clearly in the above dialogue box. The purpose here is to carefully erase the eyeballs, eyebrows, lips and hair. As you erase them
in this layer, you’ll notice the original version is coming out replacing the newer one. This way it looks more authentic and real. Go ahead and carefully finish up erasing only inside of the eyes and other
element you would like to keep as authentic. If the model have any jewelry, it is strongly suggested you erase them as well as any other details you want to preserve from the original keeping the skin intact.
Once you are finished, it should look something like this:
